update failed
android phone showing error screen - "update failed" .. won't even shut down   .. wtf?

suspecting a malware-like update - I never liked automatic updates.

what to do?

@Android Asus finally announced their new Padfone 2. Sadly, this one doesn't sport a keyboard (only phone + tablet/station).

Samsung Galaxy Note and Android
Hi Androidians,

I have been using an android mobile since the G1 first came out, and am loving them (much better than another type of smart phone out there).

After the G1 I got a Nexus One (ordered over the net from google) and this was really good.  Running ginger bread.

I now have a Samsung Galaxy Note (about 1 week now) and love the screen and the new version of android (4.02) - Ice Cream Sandwich.  But am really not liking the battery life - it goes down really quickly and takes forever to recharge - even when plugged into the mains.  I have bought a USB Power Pack thingie for it and this is quicker recharging than plugging in the mains socket.

Is this normal? Or do I have a dodgy battery?

Loving android - and hope to hear from you soon.

Alternatives for the Cyanogen Mod extended features power control widget
Anyone tried Toggle Panel as a substitute for the Cyanogen Mod extended features power control widget?

I did some research trying to find a way to get the extra power control widget features available in Cyanogen Mod on my Whispercore install, such as mobile data toggle, GPS, 3G, etc.

According to this stack exchange question, it can't really be done without a 3rd party app, as the CM power widget relies on several changes to the framework.

Toggle Panel was suggested as the next best alternative.
